What I Wore: Kiana Lede's Cut Ties Show & Tyler, The Creator's Chromakopia Tour
A chainmail mesh top, a couple of Khy pieces, and my go-to Jacquemus accessories.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, my husband and I went to two concerts: Kiana Lede at El Rey and Tyler, The Creator at Crypto. Needless to say, one of our favourite ways to spend a date night is seeing live music. Like Amelia Dimoldenberg said, going to see live music is always a good way to spend your money. And the other great thing about concerts is that usually you book them so far in advance that you have things to look forward to for months.
As with every outing, I also look forward to planning my outfits. Here are the details of my two looks.
Kiana Lede’s One-Night Only Cut Ties Show
I love going to shows because I feel like I can be a little more daring with my outfits. I’m a 33-year-old mom of twin toddlers—suffice it to say, I do not go clubbing anymore. (Although a new friend recently asked if I’d be down for a 90s/2000s dance party and yes, sign me up.) So, these days, going to a concert is my kinda club. I chose this slinky metal top with faux leather pants and a faux leather trench coat on top because it was rainy and to be honest, I didn’t care if this stuff got wet.
When I went through the metal detectors at the venue, the beeper went off. Obviously. The security guy asked me if I had anything metal on me. We looked at each other, and then my shirt. I said, somewhat sheepishly: “Umm… my whole top.” He laughed and said “Right, ok, you’re good” and let me in.
The show was great. Kiana’s vocals were on point and I sang my little heart out to every single one. We’ve seen her four or five times now—not always at her own show, but at festivals and as a guest appearance with Ella Mai—and she’s consistently impressive.

Tyler, The Creator’s Chromakopia Tour Night 1 in LA
I chose green for Valentine’s Day at Tyler, The Creator’s show because all of the branding for the tour was green. We even saw a Chromakopia shipping container in Dexter: Original Sin that was green and stuck out like a sore thumb. Anyway, green seemed to be the way to go. Plus, I’d never worn this dress outside of the confines of my bathroom before. (Sounds weird, but I promise it’s not that weird.)
I felt sooo dressed up at the concert. Many of the fans were super young and wearing cropped tank tops, jeans, and sneakers. My outfit was in a whole other league of style. Which, I didn’t mind. In fact, I like standing out from the crowd when it comes to my fashion sense. I felt confident and that’s all that matters.
Neither my husband or I were massive fans of Tyler, The Creator. We just loved his vibe. I’d listened to a handful of songs since 2017 but I definitely did not know (and still don’t know) the ins & outs of his discography. Truthfully, we weren’t sure what we were gonna get. But the show was amazing. So good. Just Tyler, no one else, on stage keeping the crowd transfixed for hours. We’d definitely see him again.
Outfit details:
—Khy ruched dress
—Jacquemus hoops & leopard purse
—Thrifted green trench
—Jil Sander boots
I guess I was in a fast fashion mood. Cringe. But it’s not that bad. Right? According to my INDYX app, most of my wardrobe is secondhand. Even sustainable style girls like myself can get sucked into the trendiness and appeal of a fast fashion look every now and then.

7 Essential Spring '25 Fashion Trends I Thrifted, According to Vogue
I’m a firm believer that a $50 outfit from the thrift store can absolutely crush a $5,000 designer outfit. Not always, it comes down to who is styling and wearing it, but it definitely happens. That’s why fashion can be bought, but style is in your DNA. You either have it or you don’t. Or you hire someone who has it to style you and make it seem like yo…
