The Week in Looks: 7 Outfits I Wore in Los Angeles & All the Details
From grabbing smoothies at Erewhon to a double date at Dante, here's everything I wore in a week as a mom on-the-go.
I’m a writer, I’m a mom, and I’m obsessed with gorgeous garments. To sum up my personal brand: fashion, fiction, and food… for thought. And speaking of food: the dinners we devoured were delicious. I had arancini at Dante, calamari at Giorgio Baldi, charcuterie and clams at A.O.C. Mmm. I could go on and on but I’m making myself hungry.
Most weeks, I’m in a basic T-shirt and jeans at least a couple of days. (You know how it is as a mom.) However, looking back at this week, I’m surprised that I didn’t gravitate towards that casual get-up at all. It wasn’t planned, but I’m glad I took a more elevated approach to these LA outings.
It was an exceptionally busy week: dinners out, seeing friends, appointments, farmers market, shopping. Monday and Friday were my two rest days and I stayed in sweats or workout clothes. Obviously, I didn’t do a little twirl in front of my phone in my bathroom for those looks—they were covered in kids’ snacks and spilled coffee. Not very glam. But very me off-duty.
I’m obsessed with pairing high & low together. For example, a thrifted dress with a pair of designer heels. PSA: Wearing designer doesn’t mean you have good style and thrifting your clothes doesn’t mean that your clothes look cheap, even when they only cost a few bucks to buy.
Ok, so without further ado, here are the seven outfits I wore during a cute September week in Los Angeles.
The Week in Looks: 7 Outfits I Wore in LA
Tuesday: Dropping off kids & going for coffee
Every Tuesday, I drop my kids off at an appointment and race toward the nearest coffee shop for an americano and some “me” time. My tomato red Gil Rodriguez dress is perfect for looking casual yet cute. I wore it with a Jacquemus baseball cap, Yeezy sneakers, and a thrifted bag big enough to carry a 500-page book.
Tuesday night: Date night with my husband at Giorgio Baldi
This was my take on a classic little black dress look. The Jacquemus shirt dress is seriously revealing and as a mom who spent almost two years breastfeeding, I don’t feel like my most confident self without a little support. So, I wore a Skims corset underneath. I completed the look with strappy Tony Bianco heels and a leopard purse from Jacquemus.
Wednesday: Grabbing smoothies at Erewhon & shopping on Rodeo
One of my friends makes fun of me for loving Erewhon. What can I say? I came from Canada to California and straight into the buzz of expensive, celebrity-endorsed smoothies. Call me a cliche, whatever! This Wednesday, I got my free member’s smoothie: salted caramel, banana, and date. Then, my husband and I went shopping along Rodeo. I wore a laid-back Jacquemus dress with Fear of God x Adidas sneakers.
Wednesday night: Double date dinner at Dante in Beverly Hills
We love a double date. And where better to do it than at Dante in the Maybourne Hotel in Beverly Hills? Besides getting to dress up super cute, I also got to indulge in a delicious ricotta pizza and a couple of tequila martinis. (I’ll be back for the cocktails.) I pulled out this abstract leopard skirt I bought at Kookai in Sydney about a million years ago and paired it with a Jacquemus halter top, my Dior saddlebag, and Jil Sander boots.
Thursday: A thrifting event at The Council Shops
Thrifting is a huge hobby of mine. Actually, it’s a way of life. Of course, when going to an event at a thrift store, it’s essential to include at least three thrifted items in your look. For me, it was my animal print skirt, small brown leather purse, and gold hoop earrings. The corset is from Skims and my heels (not pictured) were these ones from Cult Gaia.
Recently, I wrote about the link between dating and thrift shopping. Check out the post here.
Saturday: Dinner & drinks at A.O.C.
Upon walking into A.O.C. wine bar with a girlfriend on Saturday night, I realized I was only one of two in the entire place wearing colour—and both of us were in pink. I’d just received the Khy dress in the mail that afternoon and couldn’t resist wearing it out immediately. (Post-wash, of course.) I got so many compliments and felt like a million bucks, even though the dress only cost $98—scarf included.
Sunday: Farmers market in Studio City with friends
We love meeting up with other families and heading to the farmers market on Sundays. On this particular Sunday, we went to one in Studio City for the first time. It was wild: so much good food, fresh produce, meats, rides for the kids. We’ll definitely be back. I wore a Skims t-shirt, Gil Rodriguez bike shorts, a thrifted men’s blazer, Jacquemus socks, and platform Uggs.
And here’s the reel I posted on IG of every look:
Which one is your fave? Which one would you wear? How would you describe my style? Comment and let me know.

Ps. I’m not sure why when I made these GIFs in Canva, it made my lip colour look so… dull. Watch the IG reel to see what it actually looked like.
